LP is a 63-year-old male who presents to the clinic for follow up of his neuropathic pain. About 6 weeks ago, LP felt his diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) was getting worse. He was having more tingling and numbness in his feet. In addition, LP has been experiencing low energy, poor motivation, and anhedonia. At the last visit, the provider added extended-release venlafaxine to LP’s medication regimen. LP reports no change in his DPN, and he’s been having some anxiety, nausea, and diarrhea since starting the new medication.
